Hey.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, my experiences as Black woman, and other things in between.

Hey hey, and happy new year!

It’s been a fun and busy start for me thus far, but I have finally found a moment to slow down and get the blog back popping. So, let’s get to it!

I’ll start by welcoming all of you to the year of wising up! For me, this year is about becoming wise with my finances, relationships, career, ventures, and really every single area of my life, where applicable.

As it relates to my finances, I’ve been reading, Love Your Life Not Theirs: 7 Money Habits For Living The Live You Want - a Christmas gift from my dad - and it has already altered my perspective on money, inspiring me to take control of my finances now, so that I can live differently(I would even say better) in the future.

Written by Rachel Cruze -an authority on personal finance and also Dave Ramsey’s daughter - this book [at a very high level] is about grounding yourself in your values and becoming committed to living debt free.

This includes, but is not limited to any of the following:

  1. Committing to financial fidelity within your marriage or with yourself, if you’re a single person like me(i.e. managing 100% of your income between you and your spouse or managing your own income and having an accountability partner whom you trust)

  2. Proactively managing your “self-care” routines vs your self care routines managing you(i.e. retail therapy. Was that $300 you just spent on shoes in the budget, sis?)

  3. Putting insecurities aside, choosing to save up and pay cash for big purchases as opposed to financing them(i.e. Buying new furniture on credit, because you want your home to be completed all at once)

Now, as with all my reads, I have been posting excerpts of this book to my Instagram story, sharing it with my loyal followers, who care enough about my life to tune in (love ya’ll boys lol), and I’ve noticed that unlike with other books, this one has yielded an overwhelming response from my followers. Literally every time I share a page, someone asks me about the title of the book. See for yourself.

Seriously, it’s all the rage, which lets me know two things:

  1. Ya’ll care about getting rid of debt too

  2. Ya’ll might also desire to reach the promised land of wealth and proper money management

My response? I am all the way here for it.

Come THOO Black Wealth

It’s worth noting, that while the short term goal is to become debt free, the long term goal is to become debt free, so that you can create generational wealth and be in a position to GIVE to your loved ones and those in need without having to worry about owing anyone or even getting it back.
