I Only Want to be Where the Love Is
Hey y’all. :)
I have nothing particularly profound to say, but I recently found a breakthrough with new-age rap music.
Beyond the old hits, which somehow resonated, when even then, I couldn’t quite relate to everything, I have really been turned off by the majority of the songs featured in most editorial playlists as well as the latest releases(Future came out the gate talking bout Cocaine, and I just really couldn’t..can’t).
But I do love rap and I also love “love,” so I searched “hood love” on Spotify and found this.
Clever right?
Anyway, not only is it good background music for my household chores and just chillin’ in my NYC apartment, but it’s also been a great companion on my late-night, 35-minute rides home from Atlanta.
While the playlist has rappers from various backgrounds, my favorite part is hearing Black male rappers demonstrate vulnerability in their music and express their desire to love women back. #moreofthisplease
